Tandus Flooring Wins Most Colorful Award at Miami Design Mix

The wedding dress of Kate Middleton, now Her Royal Highness Catherine, wasn’t the only bridal garment making fashion history recently!  Tandus Flooring® made runway history at Design Mix 2011 with its interpretation of a lively Tropical-themed wedding dress and bouquet.
This original, surprisingly wearable wedding couture is completely crafted from Plexus Colour II Powerbond.  The Miami City Center IIDA chapter, sponsors of the event, declared Tandus Flooring the winner of the Most Colorful Award.  Tandus Flooring worked with students from the Miami Art Institute to design the classic empire-waisted gown that transforms from a full-bodied, above-the-knee skirt in front to a full-length train in back.  The only element that isn’t from Tandus Flooring is the bride’s veil though it’s adorned with a decorative flower appliqué that’s Plexus Colour II Powerbond.

The eighth annual fashion show paired industry members such as Tandus Flooring with design students to fabricate wearable garments.  Proceeds went to the International Design Association Foundation of Florida (IDAF) which is awarding scholarships to local design students. Tandus Flooring competed with 24 other manufacturers and sponsors to win the distinction of Most Colorful.

Students from North Whitfield Middle School Visit Tandus Flooring

More than 50 students from North Whitfield Middle School joined Tandus Flooring for lunch and tours as an extension of the company's Earth Week celebration.

The students enjoyed pizza while learning about the company's sustainablity efforts. Then the group toured the Environmental Center, the world's first third party-certifed reclaimation center, and the Finishing Plant. Each student contributed to the more than 10 million pounds of flooring recycled by Tandus Flooring's annually by throwing in a peice of reclaimed flooring into the "chopper".
